Grown on the fertile hills around Aydin, near the beautiful Buyuk Menderes river. These amazing fruits have played a part in our diet for thousands of years. In fact, the fig tree is the first cultivated plant, a thousand years before wheat, barley were used in farming, people were planting this tree specifically for food and enjoying its fruit.

Well known throughout the Greek, Ottoman and Roman empires, this succulent fruit looks like a berry, but is more similar to a pineapple in the fact it is actually made up of thousands of single seeded fruits.

The fruit itself is very delicate and does not keep well when fresh. This means that the majority of figs are consumed dried or otherwise processed. When eaten fresh the fig is often paired with soft white cheeses, delicate cured meats and baked breads. When dried, the fig lends itself to a multitude of uses including Chutneys and sweet breads. They can be incorporated into cakes or even used to enhance braised meat dishes.

Figs are a great source of dietary fiber with more than 20 percent of your daily recommended intake in just a 100 gram serving. They contain good amounts of calcium, Iron, Magnesium and Potassium as well as being rich in powerful antioxidants.

All of our figs are grown organically, with no chemicals or pesticides. They are hand picked when perfectly ripe then dried naturally under the Turkish sun. We then process the fruits in our state of the art facility in Izmir, sorting them by size and weight as well as checking each and every fig under UV light for the presence of aflatoxins. They are then cleaned, packaged and stored in cold rooms to ensure perfect quality.

USES: Figs often make up the main ingredient in fruit bars and energy snacks where they can be used either cooked or raw. When diced they are perfect for mueslis or other cereal ingredients. They can also be simply packaged as is and used as a snack food.
