Dried Apricots

Type:

Our Organic dried apricots are a perfect example of what a dried fruit should be. They are 100 percent natural, moist, sweet and delicious.
Apricots were originally spread throughout Western Asia and parts of Europe, by Alexander the great and his conquering armies. But nowhere have they grown in as much plenty as Malatya in Central Turkey. There the Apricot is king, if you haven’t eaten an Apricot from Malatya, then you have never tried a proper Apricot. Most of the harvest each year, about 90 percent, is dried as this small, sweet fruit lends itself perfectly to this way of preservation.

There are two main types of dried apricots and you mainly see the bright orange dried fruit, these have been treated with sulphur during drying to keep the original colour. But the best dried apricots are the natural, organic dark brown fruit. The brown colour shows that the fruit has been allowed to dry under the sun naturally with no chemicals added. If a dried apricot is orange, then it isn’t organic.

As well as being moist and full-flavoured our apricots are full of fibre, antioxidants and many other nutritional factors. They are low in calories and can help improve Eye, Skin and Gut health.

USES: You can use apricots in many ways, using them as a topping for muesli is just one. In baking, adding diced apricots help to sweeten any cake or pastry. Mixed with other dried fruits and nuts, they make a tasty trail mix to keep you full of energy on those long walks.
